Here find offered items from the
1980’s to 1990’s
from the original company called
Micro-D
, which later was bought by Ingram Industries and was later renamed
Ingram Micro
. Micro-D was an early computer tech wholesaler supply created by Lorraine Mecca and her husband around 1980. They opened up a warehouse in Hayward, California in 1984, they hired 5 people, I was one of them. I worked as a senior distribution clerk for 18 years and was the longest tenured employee there until they closed in 2001. They gave out several items over the years to workers for various reasons. These items are what I have left of those days, other than my wall plaques.
Here find 4 tee shirts and a pen/pencil Hallmark set with the company logos or identity on them and a rare ‘Micro-D’ paper weight.
There are 3 tee shirts with
‘Micro-D and Apple2 Forever’
on them, one tee shirt with the
‘Ingram-Micro’
on it, and a Hallmark emblemed pen and pencil set with the
‘Ingram’
name on them with gold plating. Shirts are medium  and have seen slight wear but are now collectables, pen/pencil set is in very nice condition fully functional. The paper weight celebrates a certain day of sales records, made of marble with metal plaque. Perhaps there are collectors out there that look for items from this company. I still have my wall plaques and MVP awards from my time there. OK, items will be wrapped and padded in a 12X8X6” carton at 4 pounds shipped via UPS ground.

As of
July 9th. 2023
USPS
no longer offers any ‘ground’ only shipping.
They now offer something they call
‘Ground Advantage’
. (There is
no
Parcel Select anymore
or
First Class ground package shipping). So
USPS says
that this is a
combined rate
including ground, Parcel Select and First Class all in one now! From what I see now when I compare rates, this is
25% more expensive
than
UPS ground
. It’s just a cheap way the post office is charging more for ground services that they can’t manage anymore, too many lost items, and I can attest to that.
So I won’t use them
,
I only use UPS ground for domestic shipping.
This now makes it easier for me to choose which carrier to use.
